April 25th, 2012: Crude Oil Trading Net $240

Hello Traders,

Today’s trading was not one of my proudest moments.  I had 10 trades on the trading day.  The last one put me in the GREEN column.  I am reminded over and over again how humbling trading can be.

April 25th, 2012:  Trading Statement

My last trade earned 100 ticks and made a 4P profit target.  If there was any good news on the trading day, then I would have to say I regained my trading discipline in time to make something from a losing trading day.

Once again, I felt fortunate to be able to walk away a winner on the trading day.  Was there some measure of luck involved?

Well, perhaps, but I also believe we create our own luck.

As Thomas Jefferson said, “I’m a great believer in it.  The harder I work.  The more I have of it.”

We have in our ability to learn from our mistakes, and do our best not to repeat them.  I came into the trading day with a plan on how to attack the trading day.

I did not follow my trading plan in the morning, and racked up a 70 tick trading loss before turning it around on one trade.

Before, I would get very angry and upset at myself for doing such a foolish thing, but I regained my composure and my ability to think and discern right from wrong.

Should I have been influenced by movement on a day that had big economic report data coming out?  Obviously, the answer is no.  I should have remained calm, cool and collected.  I did not, but did the exact opposite and found myself trading just about the whole trading day.

I do not like sitting at my computer for the whole trading day behind the 8 ball working so hard, but I placed myself into this position, and I worked my way out of it by God’s good GRACE!

April was a tough month for me overall to trade.  Although, I find myself in the win column overall on the month, I know I could have done so much better as a trader.

I have therefore decided to stop trading in the month of April and now wait for May to begin before trading again.  It is time to take some time to regroup, and get my trading discipline and self-control back into my trading life.

I will publish my results when the month is over for the month of April 2012.

Good Trading,

David ‘Tiger’ Knight
